Design trend: Striped ceiling in a nursery

Is it only me or you also noticed that more and more designers and decorators when planning a nursery have a striped ceiling in there? I mean, I love stripes and I’ve proven it to you many times, but there’s just something I don’t get it: why striped ceiling in a nursery? Do babies feel happier when looking up and seeing stripes? Perhaps…If you have an idea why is this trend settling in, please share it with me, I’m VERY curious to know :)

Allegra’s nursery

I first saw this beautiful nursery is the latest issue of Adore magazine, but I didn’t have enough pictures for a blog post, so I just put the idea away, not forgetting about it for sure! And then I spotted this nursery on the blog from where it actually comes from, Tied with a Bouw – the ramblings of Sonja who lives in Kuala Lumpur with her husband and her newborn adorable baby girl, with the cutest name ever – Allegra (I love it!). I was happy to see Allegra’s nursery again and this time I couldn’t help, but share it with you. Talk about baby fever :).

I l-o-v-e it! LOVE! But what’s not to love, such a darling space, pink, girly and cotton candy sweet?

Penelope’s room

Hello everyone! I had through my bookmarks a lovely blog post which I’m gonna share with you right now! It’s about the adorable room of Penelope, the sweet girl of Melissa – blogger behind ISLY (I Still Love You). The room is so full of sunshine, with all the popping yellow in there. It literally makes me happy just looking at it and I thought that Penelope’s room is definitely worth your attention! Clara’s nursery

Clara is the most adorable baby girl who has the coolest parents, John & Sherry of Young house love. They welcomed their baby two months ago and oh my, Clara is one precious little girl (if you check her pictures, you’ll know what I mean)! And yesterday I stumbled upon Clara’s nursery and was completely smitten by the chicness of that room. That space is definitely far from being an average baby girl’s nursery, with lots of pink or so, instead it’s a room I wouldn’t mind moving in myself! A very modern and calming color palette of green & blue, a chandelier to die for, sunburst mirror and baskets for a better organizing – doesn’t this sound amazing? I’m so enamored with Clara’s nursery, I just knew I must share with you!

Indoor teepee

I remember when I was a 4-5 years-old kid, I had a best friend and she was the one I was playing with, talking to and loving. So we were always playing at my or her home and we were always building teepees. Of course the teepees were destined to crush down at the very slight touch, but who cared? We were having fun. Imagine how much easier would’ve everything been if we had finished teepees in the stores, just to buy, put them in the middle of the room and enjoy? Aw, if I were a kid once again…But, on the bright side, we can give this to our kids and that makes me happy – knowing that one day, I’ll have a child and he/she will enjoy things I couldn’t enjoy, isn’t this so great?

There are a lot of advice and examples on the Net – so you’ll easily find what you need – just make sure the theme, colors and mood of your nursery matches your baby’s gender and forming personality. Serbian Made: Photographer Milica Tepavac

Hello, sweet friends! Welcome to another Monday! I do hope your weekend was fabulous, I wouldn’t like to disappoint you, but it’s Monday indeed! So get ready for a new week ahead! Today it’s time for the traditional Serbian Made post and this time I have for you an amazing baby photographer, but not just a baby photographer, the ONLY baby photographer in Serbia! I feel so lucky to have Milica Tepavac as the next feature on creamylife’s Serbian Made! And today the post about Milica will be quite different than usually, because we made up an interview for you! I prepared some question and the adorable Milica was so kind to answer them! So, please grab your coffee and enjoy!

please meet Milica Tepavac

Ludmila: What made you take the leap into professional photography?

Milica: Well since I know for myself I was addicted to photography. It didn’t matter do I just stare at amazing fashion photos in magazines, or holding camera and click much more than any of my friends, yet I never thought it would be my profession at any level. And then, 4 years ago I bought good Fuji prosumer and start shooting. It was like epiphany! With quite good (my first) digital camera I finally got chance to click and click everything I find interesting. And boy…oh boy I enjoyed so much, I literally discovered my precious little world and I knew it would be everlasting love. After only few days, I realized I have quite a talent, so I started learning technique (exposure, light etc) and few years after that and many photos behind me I got first business offers. Now I run project for kids photography www.pixelklinci.com and few days I go I started working for local magazine “Mama”/”Mother”.

Ludmila: Are you a self taught photographer or did you go to a faculty to learn?

Milica: Self. When I already learned all basic technical stuff, I went to photo school and we learned a lot about analyzing photography and theory of photography. That definitely gave me new dimension. After that school I’ve learned how important is to make your own style, tell the story through your work or simply evoke emotions. I also have lots of friends who are photographers, some of them are truly masters and I like to ask for their opinion.

Ludmila: How did you decide on taking pictures of children?

Milica: Well, 2,5 years ago, my brother got an adorable boy called Lav and as every aunty I was totally fascinated with him. Normally, I started clicking every moment I spent with him. When people saw those photos they said “Wow you’re born for shooting kids” and then I realized that I actually don’t know anyone in Serbia who is specialized in artistic type of kids photography and that’s how I got idea for Pixelklinci project. And I enjoy it very much! Kids are hard for shooting but then I’m always fascinated with their pure emotions.

Ludmila: What is the impression you want to leave in your photos?

Milica: Uhhh hard question :-p but in general I like when people see energy and emotions in my work. Really depends what I shoot. When I shoot street then I hunt moment, that precious second that will tell the story. When I shoot women, I like to play with tasteful erotic and complicated female emotions full of layers. When I shoot kids I simply play with them and trying to catch their character.

Ludmila: What and when was your the most impressive photo shoot?

Milica: I had several truly fascinating shootings, but once I was shooting a girl who had quite interesting character. Her love story was quite disturbing, she was desperately in love with a married man for over 10 years. That day she was very sad because of him. It was really crazy feeling, I felt her energy so well and we did some truly amazing portraits, quite provocative as well…like her entire life. But in one moment, she wasn’t posing, she just made that move with her body and I screamed “Stop!!!” and did “click”. From that moment I knew I made the best photo in my life… So far …

Wren’s nursery

Wren is an adorable baby girl of the lovely Holly from Life in the fun lane. Holly did an amazing job by putting together her baby’s room, it’s decorated with two of my favorite colors: white and turquoise in different shades. The room looks very elegant due to the white, but so cheery and fun thanks to turquoise! I loved it and I think it’s a must-see for moms-to-be, the perfect place to get inspired! Oh and by the way, you will see the turquoise in Martha Stewart pom poms which I simply adore and been looking for tutorials to make them myself. If you know some, please share!

Serbian Made: Like flowers and butterflies

Hi everyone! I hope your weekend was fabulous! Time for a new week ahead and now, looking through the window and seeing a sunny warm day (FINALLY, after two weeks of rain!) I can say this will be an amazing week! Today, as it became traditional already, it’s Serbian Monday – and a new very creative and just wonderful crafter! Little introduction: I finally put my hands on the new issue of Elle Dekor Serbia and oh, how much I love that magazine, they always have great features, beautiful pictures and useful advice! So, this week’s crafter was featured there and now please enter Katarina from Like flowers and butterflies! Needless to mention how HAPPY I was to read about Katarina there: she’s a thirty-something mom of three adorable children who are her inspiration and motivation to create clothing and accessories for the little ones. Not only she’s fabulous at designing and sewing, she also has another Etsy shop where she sells handmade acrylic doily silhouettes. I’m so proud of meeting such a talented, lovely lady like Katarina and I should also mention that her work was featured in various magazines: Country Living, Belle Armoire, Elle Dekor (twice) and more; she was interviewed for a local TV channel and oh, well, you must see her work in order to understand what do I mean: please check her blog, Etsy shop for the little ones Flowers and butterflies, Etsy for home decorations, bags and more, I wanna be or Flickr, for more eye-candy. Don’t you just love the beautiful dresses worn by the sweet girls above? They would make for an amazing gift! Oh and the plexi silhouettes are to die for! They can even be used as necklace pendants, LOVE them! I really hope I’ll have the chance to meet Katarina one day, I feel it will be like we know each other for ages!
