The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009)

October 30th, 2009

Twilight saga_new moonLast time we saw Bella Swan she was narrowly escaping the clutches of the evil vampire James while finding love with ”vegetarian” vampire Edward Cullen. Bella and Edward’s lives have been full of nothing but love and bliss however, it all changes one fateful day. On Bella’s birthday, her new found friend and sister of Edward, Alice, decides to throw her lavish party, complete with balloons, ribbons and cake that could feed an army. All is well until Bella accidentally cuts her finger whilst opening a present. The result is that Jasper Hale, the newest addition to the Cullen clan, succumbs to his blood lust and attacks Bella. Edward decides that while he and his family are around, Bella’s life will always be at risk. So he decides to leave her for her own good. Bella feels her life is over. Enter Jacob Black, a member of the Quilite tribe who manages to bring some joy and meaning back into Bella’s life. However as the two become closer, Bella discovers Jacob has a secret of his own- he’s a werewolf. As if that wasn’t bad enough Bella can’t seem to get the love of her life, Edward out of her mind. With new dangers, new friends and new enemies, Bella finds herself choosing between holding on to the past or accepting a new future. But what and more importantly who will she choose?

I don’t know how about you, but I can’t wait to see this movie!!! I guess three more weeks will seem like an eternity :)

Getting along with your mother-in-law

October 30th, 2009

mother-in-lawSeems hard at first time, huh? But actually all you need is little understanding and the two of you can become the best friends (as much as this is possible). I can consider myself lucky from this point of view, my mother-in-law remembers pretty good when she was like me and she gets the thing that the newlyweds have their own life and they should live this life according to their principles. But I also know that most of the wives (especially at the beginning) have different kinds of conflicts with their mothers-in-law and to them I “dedicate” this article!

Why do usually mothers-in-law “fight”?

  • An authoritarian mother. A dominant style of upbringing does not give good results. An overgrown son remains dependent, not initiative, and uncertain while all his contemporaries have already achieved quite a lot in life. It is hard for such a person to decide to get married. And even after having been got married, he is unable of doing anything without his mother’s approval.
  • An unhappy woman. If a mother convinces her son since early childhood that she lives only for him, and that she has sacrificed her personal life for him, then he is likely to have a complex of guilt because his mother was always unhappy. His mother will always be in a privileged position and he will have a fear of losing her. Having developed so many complexes in her son, such a mother makes him unsuitable for marriage and she herself becomes an unbearable mother-in-law.
  • A needless woman. If your mother-in-law lacks men’s attention and needs it very much, she may attack you just to make her son (the only man available) pay attention and sympathize with her. And she is ready for everything, not only to quarrel with you, but even to make you divorce her son.
  • Or, maybe your mother-in-law just loves her son so much that she can’t agree wimother_in_lawth the fact that her son is being taken by another woman.

Here are what you should do to achieve a peaceful ambiance with your mother-in-law:

  • Your first meeting with your husband’s parents is of utmost importance, because their first impression of you may become decisive. You should be dressed neatly, be woman-like, and behave according to the way you are dressed. It is necessary for you to make a good impression on them.
  • Do not try to make friends with the father-in-law, and in the process ignore the mother-in-law. You should treat both of them equally.
  • Do not reject your mother-in-law’s help and pieces of advice, even if they seem unnecessary for you. Suppose your mother-in-law suggested that you repair your apartment together, and you say, “We can do it all by ourselves”. Such a reaction makes her effort in getting along with you useless. So, if you decided to reject her help, do it tactfully.
  • Do not complain of your mother-in-law to your husband, relatives (especially your mother), and acquaintances of yours. If your mother-in-law finds it out, she won’t forgive you — even if all your complaints are justified.
  • If you have quarreled with your mother-in-law, do not be unforgiving. Be ready for a discussion and for compromises. If you cannot live together in peace, sign a treaty not to interfere into each other lives and live separately.

[How to] Stop the “Seasonal Affective Disorder”

October 30th, 2009

SAD

What is SAD? Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is a form of depression. Many sufferers show symptoms that include an inability to sleep, sadness (this is about me!), increased anxiety, a lack of sexual desire, cravings for sweets, and extreme fatigue-all of which seem to disappear during the spring and summer months. Most of the people have this SAD and i’m one of them, that’s why I’ve decided to learn more about it and figure out ‘who’ am I dealing with.

What causes SAD? The reason why we suffer of SAD is a hormone called Melatonin which has been blamed by scientists for many years as the most plausible agent of seasonal affective disorder.

How to treat SAD?

  • Light therapy will alleviate seasonal affective disorder. Getting a sunlamp and exposing youLightrself to its light on a regular basis helps to inhibit the generation of Melatonin.
  • Winter activities will cure the winter blues. Research has shown that getting regular doses of winter sunlight is almost twice as effective as a sunlamp.
  • A healthy diet helps control the winter blahs. Monitor your intake of sugars and starches; these are the two types of food that sufferers crave, causing an unusual amount of weight gain in the winter months.
  • A regimented sleep schedule will improve your mood. Try to sleep only during times when there is no sunlight, waking up earlier to make sure you get as much sunlight as possible during the day.

Important! If none of this remedies is helping, you need to consult a doctor. Note that there is no test for seasonal affective disorder, so when you see your doctor you’re going to need a detailed list of your symptoms, including dates that point to when the symptoms began, and any other information you think might be useful to your physician.

All you need to know about Greek Salad

October 30th, 2009

greek-saladThe term “Greek salad” is also used in North America, Australia, South Africa, and the United Kingdom to refer to a lettuce salad with Greek-inspired ingredients, dressed with vinegar and oil. Lettuce, tomatoes, feta, and olives are the most standard elements in an American “Greek” salad, but cucumbers, peperoncini, bell peppers, onions, radishes, dolmades, anchovies/sardines and pickled hot peppers are common. In the Detroit, Michigan area, for example, a “Greek salad” also includes beets. Rather than simple olive oil and vinegar, as in a μαρούλι – lettuce salad, prepared dressings containing various herbs and seasonings are frequently employed. This style of “Greek salad” is rarely encountered in Greece except in the homes of American Greeks or restaurants that cater to tourists. In these countries, the true Greek salad, when encountered, may be called by the Greek term horiatiki or by such terms as “country salad”, “peasant salad”, or “village salad”, to avoid confusion.

Greek salad of varing degrees of authenticity is also found in other European countries e.g. Germany (where it is often called Bauernsalat), France (salade à la Grecque), Hungary (görög saláta) and Spain (ensalada griega).

So here’s how this delightful meal should be cooked:

Ingredients

  • 1 head romaine lettuce- rinsed, dried and chopped Greek salad

  • 1 (6 ounce) can pitted black olives

  • 2 large tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 cucumber, sliced
  • 1 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 6 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • ground black pepper to taste

Directions

  1. In a large salad bowl, combine the Romaine, onion, olives, bell peppers, tomatoes, cucumber and cheese.
  2. Whisk together the olive oil, oregano, lemon juice and black pepper. Pour dressing over salad, toss and serve.

Fruits and vegetables for skin care

October 28th, 2009

fruits-and-vegetablesNatural fruits and vegetables have been found useful for healthy and beautiful skin. Since this is essential, I compiled the list of some effective natural aids for your skin right from your kitchen, fridge and garden that can give your skin a boost. Give it a try and your skin will thank you for them.

  • Grapes – Grapes have various vitamins other than glucose and fructose. These enhance the action of skin cells, are good for reviving skin and have detoxification effects.
  • Tomatoes – Tomatoes have lots of pectin, a vegetable fiber. They help blood circulation, which is vital for a good complexion. Apply the pulp of a tomato liberally to the face and leave for an hour. Then wash off with warm water. Repeating this daily produces a good complexion and quickly removes ugly-looking pimples.
  • Cucucucumbermber – Cucumber is a surprising beauty secret for the skin, with its hydrating, nourishing and astringent properties. Cucumbers have the same PH as the skin so they help restore the skin’s protective and natural acid mantle. Grate or blend a cucumber. Apply this over the face, eyes and neck for 15 to 20 minutes. It is a great tonic for the facial skin and regular use prevents pimples, blackheads, wrinkles, and dryness of the face. By applying cucumber slices onto your skin, you can have soothed, smoothed and cooled skin.
  • Lemons – are the most popular home beauty ingredient. People preferred using lemons to cleanse and freshen the skin and hair. A few lemon slices to soften rough skin spots such as elbows and heels. Lemons can be a very powerful deodorizer, just simply mix a few teaspoons of lemon juice in your bath and you will feel fresh the whole day. Lemon juice can be added to your favorite cleanser or shampoo to refresh and tone your scalp, as well as prevent dandruff.apples
  • Apples – are a great conditioner and toner for your skin. They have amazing skin-healing powers and have been used as a beauty aid for centuries. Add a cup of apple juice to your bath to cleanse and soften your skin. The juice of apple can be used as a breathe freshener too. Apple juice when applied to your hair scalp can prevent dandruff. Use as a final rinse after shampooing your hair. Also, remember, apples are filled with pectin – essential for fighting the dreaded acne.
  • Banana is a great emollient for your skin and hair. They are rich in protein and natural fats and can be used on all skin types. An easy face mask that will make your skin supple is to apply mashed banana all over your skin and leave it on for 2o minutes, rinse off with warm water and moisturize after that. Mashed banana also makes a wonderful hair conditioner when mixed with a 1 tablespoon of honey. Perfect for keeping hair beautiful even if dyed regularly.
  • Peaches are highly emollient and perfect for dry skin types. Mash a fresh peach and combine with a tablespoon of plain yogurt to make a smooth paste. Apply on the skin and leave it on for 20 mins and then rinse off with warm water. Your skin will feel moisturized and supple to the touch.

[How to] Whiten your teeth at home

October 24th, 2009

white-teethList of Items Needed
· 3 teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide (the amount may vary depending on family size)
· 2 teaspoons of baking soda (the amount may vary depending on family size)
· Optional (A small amount of toothpaste or drop of mint flavor may also be added.)

How to make this paste?

Drop two or three teaspoons (this may not be exact) of the hydrogen peroxide into the baking soda, making a paste. This sometimes takes a little trial and error. Be sure it is the same consistency as toothpaste. If you wish, you can add a bit of mint flavoring or even a small dollop of toothpaste.

How to use this free whitener?

Brush your teeth with your mixture, being sure to leave it on your teeth for at least two minutes. Do NOT swallow this paste! Trust me, you wouldn’t want to swallow it- the taste is not the best. To make the paste taste better, try to use the above tips. This will help to make the taste a little bit tastier.

What to do after using this paste?White_smile

After you finish brushing with this free paste, brush again with regular toothpaste to rid your mouth of the taste as well as the peroxide solution. You will be amazed at just how white and bright your teeth will be! Many smokers and heavy coffee drinkers use this little trick. This may be a home remedy that your grandmother even used.

Beware that if you have open sores, cavities, gingivitis, or other gum diseases this may make your gums appear white for a short time. This may not be the whitener for your teeth if they are very sensitive. As with anything, you should consult your doctor or dentist before trying this or any other medical treatment.

How often this paste can be used?

· This treatment can be done weekly, monthly, or whenever you want extra bright teeth!
· You shouldn’t brush with this mixture more than once per week.

Do’s and Dont’s in hand and nail care

October 14th, 2009

hand careDo’s:

  • Wear rubber gloves lined with cotton when your hands are in contact with harsh soaps, detergents or chemicals.
  • Wear gloves when doing work that might damage the hands or nails, such as gardening or shovelling snow.
  • After washing your hands, pat dry and, while moist, use a moisturizer on the hands, cuticles and nails. Chemically enhanced moisturizers that contain urea of lactic acid are even more efficient in binding water to the skin (Uremol, Calmurid, Lachydrin, Lacticare).
  • If your hands must be in and out of water frequently apply a silicone or a similarly based protectant film that sheds water over the hands and nails (Prevex, Atrixo, Barriere Cream).
  • If nails darken despite good cleansing habits, a drop of lemon oil massaged twice weekly into the nail plate may work but must not be overdone or irritation of the surrounding skin and drying of the nail plate may occur.
  • Nail polish protects the nail from stains, physical trauma, and acts as a barrier to chemicals. Use it but don`t overuse it or it may stain and dry nails, particularly if nail polish hardeners are used frequently. A base coat will allow your polish to last longer.
  • If your nails are dry, soak them for 10 minutes twice daily in warm water, pat dry and immediately apply one of the chemically enhanced moisturizers that contain urea, lactic acid or glycerin oil.
  • Sculpt and shape your nails by filling in one direction with a very fine file. Avoid vigorous up and down or back and forth motions which may tear apart the various layers of the nails. Avoid sharp angles. Attend to small cracks, snags and breaks immediately.hand and nail care
  • Treat yourself to a weekly manicure if possible; it is relaxing and keeps the nails healthy looking and attractive. Do not forget your toenails!
  • As they age, the nails thicken, grow more slowly, repair poorly and are susceptible to various skin diseases. Watch for changes and see your dermatologist early enough to treat problems.

Dont’s:

  • Avoid digging blindly into a drawer or purse where a sharp object may crack or break the nail or harm the delicate skin around the nail.
  • Avoid using the nails to do pick-up tasks. Use the soft ends of the fingers rather that the fragile nail; they will soon chip and break if used this way.
  • Avoid gluing on false or molded nails; allergic and painful reactions may occur. “Mending paper” or tea-bag paper can be used to bridge large cracks.
  • Do not reapply nail hardener or polish more often than necessary; these agents can discolor nails and make them brittle if overused. Try to repair your manicure rather than replace it. Avoid chipping and peeling off nail polish.
  • Do not bother adding gelatin and calcium supplements to an otherwise well-balanced diet. They have no know positive effects on the nails despite certain claims.
  • Do not use too much polish remover. Apply moisturizer after using nail polish remover in order minimize the irritating and drying cation of the acetone.
  • Do not grow excessively long nails; they are too prone to breakage.herbalhandcare
  • Wrapping nails is laborious and is difficult to do without help. Avoid this technique unless your nails are particularly prone to breaking.
  • Do not push back your cuticles too vigorously or you will harm the growing moon of the nail. Push them back only when the skin around the nails is warms and wet and therefore softer and easier to manipulate.
  • Avoid applying sharp instruments under the nails. They might break the nail to skin bond.
  • Do not ignore nails that separate from beds (it may be due to iron or thyroid deficiency), nails that thicken (it may be fungus infection) or pit (it may be psoriasis). See your doctor. The nail and skin reflect internal well being or disturbance.

Heidi Klum Gave Birth To A Girl

October 13th, 2009

heidi-klumHeidi Klum has given birth to a “beautiful” girl. The German super model and her musician husband Seal welcomed Lou Sulola Samuel into the world on Friday.

Seal said in a statement: “It’s difficult to imagine loving another child as much as you love your existing children. Anyone who has a family will tell you this. Where will one find that extra love? If you love your existing children with all of your heart, how then can one possibly find more heart with which to love another?”

“On Friday, October 9, 2009 at 7:46 p.m., the answer to this question came in the form of our fourth child and second daughter. Lou Sulola Samuel was born, and from the moment she looked into both of our eyes it was endless love at first sight. She is beautiful beyond words and we are happy that she chose us to watch her grow over the coming years. »

Heidi and Seal already have sons Henry, four, and two-year-old Johan together, while Heidi has five-year-old daughter Leni from a previous relationship.

Heidi, 36, recently revealed her stomach got so big towards the end of the pregnancy her other children thought it was a toy to be leapt on.

She said: “I had to stop them jumping on my tummy. They don’t really understand there is actually a real human being in there.”
