Wren’s nursery

Wren is an adorable baby girl of the lovely Holly from Life in the fun lane. Holly did an amazing job by putting together her baby’s room, it’s decorated with two of my favorite colors: white and turquoise in different shades. The room looks very elegant due to the white, but so cheery and fun thanks to turquoise! I loved it and I think it’s a must-see for moms-to-be, the perfect place to get inspired! Oh and by the way, you will see the turquoise in Martha Stewart pom poms which I simply adore and been looking for tutorials to make them myself. If you know some, please share!

Fast and easy makeovers

Style at home had recently an article about makeover ideas which will take only 10 min. The article caught my attention, because these days we don’t have plenty of time or funds to redecorate our homes every second day, so I was curious to know what are those fast (and cheap) makeovers we can implement in our homes. I will share some of them with you and I’m hoping to be helpful and give you some ideas as well!

1. Rearrange. Or change colors and I speak about pillows. It’s so easy to throw on your sofa another cushions, whether they’re brighter or more neutral, believe me they’ll change the atmosphere instantly! You can mix styles and colors, the result will be stunning! And by the way I’m one of those people who think that one can never have too many cushions, you can always use them to change something in your room!

Bertoia wire chairs

Earlier today I got myself thinking that I’m a chair-addict. Seriously, I’ve blogged about Eames’ chairs (the rocker is my all time favorite), Saarinen’s tulip chair, butterfly chair and I even have a chair wish list! Does all of this make me a chair-addict? I guess so. Another friend of mine is Bertoia wire chair, designed by Harry Bertoia in 1952 for Knoll. Its design it’s all about simplicity and elegance. Considering to have this chair in my yard one day as I think Bertoia wire chair is meant to happily live its life in the backyard, with nice cushions on it or an entire cover. As I was researching about Bertoia, I found out that the wire chair is actually of two types: Side chair and Diamond chair (or lounge seating) and I really dig for both of them, although I’d choose the Diamond chair (the shape of it is killer!). Here’s some inspiration just for you to understand my huge love for these two designer chairs.

Bedroom Inspiration

Hi everyone! I must admit the place me & my husband are living now isn’t the home of my dreams, so I’m considering this an excuse to imagine and virtually decorate my dream home, including bedroom – which I think is a sacred place in a home as there we spend a third time of our lives while sleeping and I guess it’s very important to create a warm, relaxed atmosphere for sweet dreams. So, I’ve been visualizing yesterday how will my bedroom look like in my dream home. After flipping through pictures of beautiful spaces I figured that my bedroom is all about floral pattern, cozy blankets and colors (not surprising at all!). What it really IS surprising is that I showed to my husband a white & pink bedroom, asking ‘would you like to have this bedroom?’ (of course expecting a ‘no’), he said ‘yes, why not’. Hello, my husband won’t feel disturbed by a pink bedroom! You probably understood why I love him.

Color+Inspiration: Blue+Brown

I have prepared another color+inspiration post and this time I’ll be focusing on the combo of a bright/light blue and a chocolate brown. And while I’m still loving the elegance and natural look of the brown, I just couldn’t forget about my love affair with blue (or turquoise) as I think these two colors work together so well, able to create a stylish color balance, being quite charming, don’t you agree? The blue brightens up the dark brown gorgeousness in a space and I would consider decorating my living or dining room with these two shades! Here’s some inspiration:

Twitter offices

I want to share with now a glimpse of the re-designed Twitter offices. I felt so excited to see how does that place look like, because I’ve been using Twitter a lot lately, so knowing I can sneak a peek at the offices of the people who are making all our tweets work  sounded very attractive! It was like I took a look into Twitter‘s home and you know I love home tours :). Oh, I need to mention that the designer is Sara Morishige Williams and she definitely did a great job! The Butterfly Chair

I’m sure you noticed the tendency of bringing to design trend world old pieces whether it’s about furniture, clothing or accessories. We usually say that new is the well-known old. So this is what happened to the butterfly chair. I’ve been thinking to write about it awhile now, so today finally I decided to see what is with this chair and why did it return to the world of design. About the past of the butterfly chair: it was designed by the Argentinian architect Jorge Ferrari Hardoy, together with Antonio Bonet and Juan Kurchan in 1938-1939 while working in Buenos Aires for Grupo Austral. This chair is also known as BKF chair (after its designers’ last names). Nowadays, the butterfly chair kept the design though it’s available in leather of different colors or cow hide. It works great for any indoor room, as well as outdoor area. Here are some inspiring pictures:

Hello, non-white ceilings!

Or should I say ‘good bye, white ceilings’? Hm, not sure if white painted ceilings will make their disappearance any time soon, but one thing I do know: welcome a new design trend – ceilings painted in blue/purple/red (to name a few) colors! And I like the look of a room which has white walls against a bold colored ceiling, though it’s quite daring to do this, don’t you think so? However, I’m not planning to paint my ceiling, so for now here’s some inspiration for you, in case you might consider this idea for your own home:

Patio Inspiration

I’ve playing with Olioboard lately (so much fun!) and yesterday I created an inspiration board I thought I can share with you, hoping you’ll get inspired by it. Now, with these hot summer days, we all tend to spend time outside whether it’s about a terrace of a cafe, park or in the patio, with a refreshing drink, so I made up a patio inspiration board. My imaginary patio is decorated with blue (accessories) and black (furniture), it has lots of plants and is just as good-looking as I’d imagine my dream patio being. Enjoy!

Did anyone of you try Olioboard? If so, what do you think about it? Oh, wouldn’t it be nice to get connected there? CreamyLife is so open for Olioboard friends!
